PRISONERS ESCAPE
DASH FROM HAUTU CAMP.
WARDERS ELUDED. POLICE SEARCH DISTRICT. Eluding warders at the Hautu prison camp at Tokaanu last evening, two prisoners. John Booth Prohl and Rich—ard de Thierr)‘, made good their escape. An immediate search in the heavy bush country proved unsuccess—iul, and to—day the police at Hamilton were informed that the fugitives had been seen early this morning at N 33 ruawahia where they sought shelter. However, it has definitely been estab—lished that the two men seen are not the escaped prisoners. Although a sharp surveillance is maintained it was not a dimcult task 101‘ the prisoners to escape as the rigid prison conditions are not enforced when their absence was noticed, several warders scouted the district, but no trace of the pair was discoveFEd, and their whereabouts are still Innknown. No cars are reported missing. ,
Prohl. who is aged 26, is Mr. wins in height and has a fresh complexion brown hair and blue eyes. De Thierl‘y who is a Maori. aged ‘23 years, is art. 7ins. in height.
