GOLD MINING.

MATAKI DREDGING. Under date the 4111 inslant, the dredgemaster of Mataki Gold Dredging Ltd., reports as follows: ‘‘Since last reporting the dredge has worked 1295 hours on a face of 400 ft with an average depth of 13ft for a gold return of 31 ounces 2dwt sgrs. During the week there has been no change in conditions. The river remains very low; the weather being dry and an almost total absence of rain. We are still lifting the same amount of bottoms. A certain amount of time was lost due to buried timber and largo stones. All machinery is functioning well.”
