DAY WITH CHILDREN
PRIME MINISTER’S TOUR. A BROADCAST MESSAGE. ’ (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Monday. The Prime Minister, Mr Savage was enthusiastically greeted by large crowds this morning during his visits to orphanages and hospitals in the city and suburbs when he left baskets of toys for the children. He was accompanied by the Minister of Internal Affairs, the lion. W. E. Parry and a representative of the Mayor of Auckland. Speaking on the steps of the Post Office, Mr, Savage broadcast a Christmas message by radio to all the children of New Zealand. The effect of his message given in all its points was: “I want you to accept me as a frien'd, and not a fair weather friend only. If you will be my friend in the real meaning of the word,
there is nothing we cannot do.” Mr Parry also gave a message of goodwill, and said he hoped by legislal ion to carry on the Christmas spirit through Ihe years.
