DEATH OF A DOCTOR.
BATTERED ON HEAD. CHARGE OF MANSLAUGHTER. MEDICAL MAN TO BE TRIED. United Press Assn. —Elec. Tel. Copyright. MELBOURNE, Dec. 18. The Crown Law Department has withdrawn the charge of murder against Dr. Allan Bothamley, and he will be tried on a charge of manslaughter. Dr. Bothamley was originally charged with the murder of Dr. Frank Loughnan, aged 35, whose body was found in his surgery at Fitzroy on November 26. Dr. Loughnan had been badly injured about the head and a tyre lever lay beside the body. Dr. Allan Bothamley, aged 45, of Fitzroy, Melbourne, was brought before the City Court charged with the murder. Detective Hogg stated that Dr. Botliamley visited the detective office and declared he had killed Dr. Loughnan. The detective said it had been alleged that an argument occurred in connection with the payment of money duo for a medical practice which Dr. Bothamley had bought from Dr. Loughnan. A serious altercation occurred in the surgery.
