CAMBRIDGE BOROUGH.

COUNCIL’S DECEMBER MEETING. (Special lo Times.) CAMBRIDGE, Friday, The December meeting' of the Borough Council was held in the Counei Chambers last evening when the Deputy-Mayor. Mr Edgar James, presided, and. there were present Crs. A. 11. Nieoll, M. Wells, Geo. Calvert, K. Wilkinson, W. Moore, the town clerk, Mr F. T. Ray, and engineer, Mr T. Dlx. The consulting engineers for the new high level bridge over the Karaplro stream advised that the Main Highways Board had now approved of the plans for the bridge and Ihe approaches. Cr. James: 1 take it that we can now go ahead and call tenders for the approaches early in the New Year. It was pointed out that the matter would he held up pending Mr If. C. Roche’s report and plans on the taking of land for the approaches. The clerk stated that the incline on the town side would start just below Messrs Eouter and Co.’s garage. It was decided to ask Mr Roche to have the plans berore the council bv the middle of January. The Cambridge School Committee wrote thanking the council for allowing schoolchildren in organised classes to attend the municipal bath free or charge. The borough engineer’s report stated that permits to the value of £2060 for new dwellings were issued during November.

i A formal resolution was passed permitting the town clerk to add the 10 per cent, penalty on rates after February 27.
