MoOREADY BEATS ELLIOTT

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NAPIER, Monday. McGready defeated Elliott in a professional wrestling match on Saturday evening, taking a fall in the fifth round by series of throws from headlocks,' followed by a dump. Elliott was unable to continue.

It was a remarkably Clean bout,

THURSDAY’S BIG BOUT.

FINE MATCH PROMISED. WADE v. ELLIOTT. Interest 'throughout the Waikato is centred on the coming meeting of Glen Wade and King Elliott In .the Theatre Royal, Hamilton, on Thursday evening, and the bout promises to be one of the most exciting seen in Hamilton in recent years.

It was on July 9, 1931, four years ago to-morrow, that Elliott met Lurich here and he is a muoh improved wrestler as the result of the experience gained since that time. His official weight is given as lOst. 21b. and the latest photos of the New Zealander forwarded' to the association suggest that he is every ounce of that poundage. Fast and massive as he is now he should give Wade a hard battle and many who have seen Elliott since his return from Australia predict that lie will prove a match for the American grappler. • Wade, who stands sft. 9in., tons the scales at 15st. lllbs. He commenced wrestling 14 years ago and has defeated such men as Rumberg, Dettori, Allen Eustace, Jim Browning before he was champion, and has gained many a fall ‘from John Pesek. In his earlier days Wade was chief sparring partner to John Pesek for five years, preparing him for all his big matches during that time. Versatility is Wade’s chief forte, being well versed In all the branches of the wrestling technique. His pet hold is the back-slam and he is said to be second only to Pesek in the execution of this Important hold.
