BIRD PROTECTION
WORK IN WANGANUI. PLANTING OF TREES. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WANGANUI, Saturday. Splendid work is being carried out by the Wanganui Acclimatisation Society in native bird protection. During recent years the 'society has made grants for Hie purpose of planting suitable trees to provide food tor luis, bcllbirds and oilier native birds. This year llie society lias been distributing free of charge Powering eucalyptus of several varieties, tree lucerne and bauksios with a view io augmenting the food supplies ol native birds. The society is one of. the oldest, in the Dominion and was founded in 1802. While it lias not a large district in which to operate, it docs valuable work in Ihe interests of acclimatisation and bird protection.
