THE HAMILTON DISTRICT. RETURNS FOR THE YEAR. LITTLE VARIATION SHOWN. Vital statistics for Hamilton for the year ending to-day -show little variation on those for 1933, with the exception of deaths, which are increased by 52. For the year 1934 there were three more births and eight more marriages. Easter-time' is usually more popular than Christmas for marriages, and as this feast fell in March the marriage notices given that month numbered 30, the highest of any month. Last year, when Easter fell during April, the marriages were more in that month, December coming second in both years. Following are the figures for each month, with comparisons m parentheses:—

There were 768' marriages in Dunedin this year as against 653 last year. On the" other hand births declined from 1322 to 1268.
