Chess Championship. —ln a five hours’ chess contest at Hastings the British champion, Sir George Thomas, caused a surprise by defeating Senor Jose Capablanea, former world’s champion, in the second round in 53 moves. Senor Capablanea lost a piece in the middle of Ihe game and was unable lo recover.
