HYDRO-ELECTRIC POWER.
TE AWAMUTU BOARD. The monthly meeting or the Te Awamutu Electric Power Board was held on Friday, when the chairman, Mr J. T. Johnson, presided. Copies of correspondence between the Seafund Settlement Association (Panetapu), Limited, and the Waitomo Power Board In connection with tbe proposal to supply light and power to tbe settlement near Wharepuhunga were forwarded by the association’s secretary at Palmerston North, in which it was shown that the Waitomo Board is not disposed to supply unless the guarantee to cover construction costs or the necessary line is' Increased substantially. The matter was deferred until the Waitomo Board had definitely turned the offer down. The superintedrient, Walkerla Borstal Institute, advised the hoard that he understood It was contemplating extending Its lines to the Panetapu settlement, thereby converting Its supply line to Korakonul ,from 3 300 volts to 11,000 volts. As it would necessitate its transformer having to be also converted, be would like to know ir the scheme would be brought Into operation in the near future. This also deponds upon the other negotiations. Financial Position.
