When engaged in spraying ragwort yesterday", Mr John Smith, labourer, in the employ of the Ohura County Council, met with serious injuries through the explosion of the sodium chlorate which'lie was using. ' Mr Smith’s clothes caught lire, and lie received severe burns on the legs and b,ody. GIRL THROWN FROM HORSE. AUCKLAND, Friday. Thrown from a horse at Kohiinarama yesterday, a 12-ycars-ohl girl, Jean Clark, suffered concussion and a compound fracture of an arm. GIRL CYCLIST INJURED. AUCKLAND, Friday. Suffering from concussion received as the result of a' collision between Ihe bicycle she was riding - and a motorcar yesterday, Miss Violet Walilisley, aged 18, was Inkcn to hospital. LITTLE BOY DROWNED. PUKEKOIIE, Thursday. While bathing in the tidal estuary at Waiuku this morning, Hunter West, aged JO, who was unable to swim, disappeared and was drowned. He was the only son of Mr and Mrs L. 11. West, of Glcnbrook. The body was recovered in about eight feet of water an liuur later.
