STORE CATTLE SALE. AT WESTFIELD. Small yardings of store and dairy cattle were forward at the Westfield weekly slock sale yesterday. ' With the approach of the holiday 'season there is generally an easing of activity among graziers; .and yesterday’s light yardings were consequently expected. There was a bright demand tor the few fine quality dairy cows offering, and competition was keen. Prices tinned on recent rales, and several cows.in milk realised in the vicinity of £O. Springers also met with a better demand, although here again the numbers offering were below the buyers’ requirements. Prices for store cattle remained on a, par with recent rales and all lines were cleared without difficulty. The prices ruling were as follows ; Store Cattle. —Young cows, good condition, from £2 to £3; good quality, less condition, 30s lo 37s 6d; others, up Lo 255; boner and aged cows, up to 255; boner culls, up to 355; breeding bulls, Jersey and Shorthorn, up to £3 15s; yearling Jersey heifers, good quality, up lo £2; others, up to 255. Dairy CaLtle. —Jersey cows, good quality, close to profit from £3 10s to '£6; good quality, more backward, £2 5s to £3 ss; backward and inferior, up to 355; Jersey heifers, good quality, close to profit, made up to £5 ss; good quality, less forward condition, up to £4; others, up to £2; Shorthorn cows, in milk, and close to profit, made up to £4 15s; oLlier cows, in full milk, up to £3 15s.

ADDINGTON MARKETS. Entries at Addington were heavy on the occasion of the Cbristtiias-'niar-ket. The next sale will not take place until January 3. All fat stock sold well, particularly lambs and cattle. Store Sheep.—There was a heavier entry, on account of the effect of the dry weather on feed .Wethers eased by Is to 2s a head. Best made to 16s Gd, ordinary 12s to 13s 7d, twotooth lialfbred ewes to 2ls 4d, ordinary four and six-tooth to 18s, ewes and lambs (all counted) 7s to 10s 9d. Fat Lambs. —A total of 4300 was penned. The schedule for export has been improved to 7id per lb for firsts, and other grades correspondingly. Improved prices were maintained for the big entry. 'Good prime lambs made from 2is to 23s 6d.

Fat Sheep.—An entry of slightly more than 5000 was all bought by the trade and exporters at last week’s values. Extra prime heavy wethers lo 25s lOd, prime heavy 23s to 24s 6d, prime medium-weight 21s to 22s Gd, light, and ordinary to 20s Gd, extra prime heavy ewes to 22s 4d medium weight prime lGs to 17s Gd, ordinary 14s to lGs Gd, light to 13s. ■Fat Cattle. —A total of 510 goodquality cattle was penned. Prices improved by 15s a head. Best beef 24s to 2Gs per 1001 b, good 2is to 23s Gd, heavy 18s Gd to 20s Gd, ordinary 16s to 18. s, rough down to 13s; extra prime heavy steers to £ll 2s Gd, prime heavy £9 to £lO, prime mediumweight £8 lo £9 15s, ordinary £4 10s to £7 ss, light to £4 10s, best heifers £5 5s to £8 17s Gd, ordinary £3 5s to £5, light to '£3, best cows £4 10s to £7 12s Gd, medium £2 15s to £4, light lo £2 10s. Fat Pigs. l —A very heavy entry came forward. There was a weaker sale for porkers, for which the export demand was limited, but baconers met with a •good sale. Porkers .28s Gd to 40s; average price per lb 5Jd to Gd; baconers 45s Gd to 68s Gd; average price per lb 5d to sld; choppers 30s to 635.

TE AWAMUTU STOCK SALE. The Ne\v Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company Limited, Hamilton, report on their Te Awamutu stock sale as follows: — Cattle. —A large yarding of all classes of cattle came forward, comprising mostly store and boner cows. Fat bullocks and cows sold under keen competition and prices for these were well up to Frankton late rates. Little variation on rates ruling in other centres was noticeable for other sorts, and a clearance was effected at satisfactory prices. We quote: Good quality fat bullocks, £7 18s to £8 10s; medium fat bullocks, £6 10s' to £7 IGs; others, £4 15s to £5 17s (id; good quality fat cows, £5 15s lo £7; medium quality do., £4 10s to £5 10s; lighter do., £3 to £4 ss; killable cows and heifers, £2 10s to £3 ss; forward conditioned cows, £2 to £2 12s’ cull cows, 10s to 15s; 2year Hereford heifers, £2 10s to £2 18s; 18-months Polled Angus heifers, up to £2 10s; potter hulls, up Lo £3; dairy cows, up to £3 10s. Sheep.—A fair yarding of sheep was entered, comprising mostly lambs. Values were quite on a par with laic Frankton quotations.
