CHRISTMAS GREETING

The Daily Express says the British Broadcasting Corporation has arranged with Mr Richard Long, aged 95, the oldest inhabitant of the tiny Warwickshire village of llming'ton to speak the Empire’s Christmas greetings to the King. Tile villagers will gather in an old tithe barn on Christmas Day and sing a carol and an old folk song. Then Mr Long will read a message and speak. The villagers will sing three lines of the National Anthem. The broadcast will then be switched on to Australia, New Zealand, India, South Africa, and -Canada, where will be sung the remaining lines until the end of the third verse. The massed choirs of the Empire will sing the final line in chorus.
