100 TONS OF EXPLOSIVES. EVACUATION OF A VILLAGE. (Empire 'Press Union). VANCOUVER, November 14. Preparations arc being made at Hidden Greek mine, near Anyox, on the British Columbia coast, for the most terrific mining blast the world lias known. One hundred tons of dynamite will be exploded in the expectation that it will break up halt a million tons of rock, clean up old workings and facilitate new operations. The dynamite is being placed at various depths up to 800 feet, and connected by electric wiring so that it may be exploded as a single blast by a man who will be stationed at an electric key two miles distant. About 1000 persons live in the village at Hidden Greek, and they will move temporarily well away from the scene. At least some buildings will be destroyed. but they are not of a permanent nature and can be replaced without much expense.
