CHRISTMAS PARTY
EX-SOLDIERS’ CHILDREN. ASSOCIATION ENTERTAINS. More Ilian 130 children, the sons and daughters of members of the Waikato Returned Soldiers’ *. Association, were entertained at a Christmas party at the State Wintergarden this afternoon. Organised as an annual event by the association, the function more than equalled the success of previous years, and a happy time was spent by the youngsters who were present. A plentiful distribution of sweets, a multiplicity of hooters, bugles, paper Pats ana other novelties, togetner with plenty of good companionship were the principal factors that spelt the success of the gathering, though much enjoyment was obtained from ihe various games and competitions that were carried out under t lie charge of- the association’s committee. However, the crowning event of Ihe afternoon was Ihe arrival of Santa Claus. Long before the appointed time, greedy eyes had ravished the Christmas tree standing in one corner of the hall, and there was a concerted rush for the glittering pine, loaded with tinselled gifts, upon the arrival of Father Christmas.
