THE WEATHER. 'Dry weather prevails in the district, notwithstanding the tropical downpour experienced in other centres. A light rain fell during Tuesday night, which only moistened the surracc of the soil. The barometer has remained exceptionally high ror the past 14 days. Power Switched On. On Saturday night the residents or Paewhenua marked the switching on of electricity hy a monster social. Mr W. J. Broadfoot, M.P., performed the ceremony of switching on electric light and power. Mr W. S. Cato, chairman, and Mr V. W. Simms, member of the waltomo Power Board, congratulated the distHct on the progressive step taken. Hay and Ensilage. Large paddocks of hay and ensilage are ■being harvested throughout the district owing to the phenomenally prolific growth of pasture.
