(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) . MASTERTON, .Sunday. In the ' Hawke Cup elimination match Wairarapa’s. 'first'lnnings closed for 243 against Manawatu’s. 189. The latter in its second innings made 253, Culler 91 and Penman 45 being the principal scorers. On account of the crumbling wicket the Wairarapa batsmen fared badly in their second strike, two being injured. Montgomery, received a nasty knock over the. eye, requiring three, stitches. Massey also was Iqit on the side. Norris, of Manawatu, while wicketkeeping was knocked out by a ball which struck him behind the ear and he had to receive medical attention. At stumps Wairarapa had five wickets down for 75. The match was drawn, Wairarapa giving Manawatu the right to challenge.
TOKANUI V. WAIPA TEAM. This game was played at Tolcafibi between the local team and a combined turn from Te Awamutu. . . . „ The visitors compiled 89, of which C. Bowden made 37, F. Laskey S 3 and fc. Bedford 10. For the local team Jell took two wickets for 8, McAlpln'e two for i«, Grey three for 15, Morgan one Tor 2, and Bond two for 11. .
