A preliminary revelation of a discovery by which doctors will be enabled "to watch the brain at work was made by sir Gowland Hopkins, professor of biochemistry in the University of Cambridge since 1014, in his anniversary address to the Royal Society.
Two Cambridge scientists —Professor D. Adrian anil Mr Brian Malihows—have made discoveries which Sir P. Hopkins believes will have farreaching possibilities, enabling brain specialists lo develop diagnosis by electrical records made through the skull.
Professor Adrian’s special aim lias been lo relate electrical changes with individual nerve cells. It is fascinating lo see these rythmic activities of the human brain recorded as a series of waves in a graphic record after passing through the skull. -
