OBITUARY.

MR JAMES A- REID. Wliarepuhunga district has lost one of its most respected settlers in the death of Mr James A. Reid. Mr Reid, who was born at Wanganui 68 years ago, acquired a large property in the Wharcpuhunga district nearly 20 years ago, and "three 'of the sons 'went into occupation to develop it. Their father came to reside in the district about seven or eight years ago, but his unsatisfactory health prevented his taking an active part in the affairs of the 'district. An ardent horticulturist for many years Mr Reid devoted his energies to beautifying the homestead surroundings. Mrs Reid and a grown-up family of five, survive him. The sons are Messrs Alex, Will and Archie Reid, nil of Wliarepuhunga, and John, of Wanganui, while the daughter is Mrs D. R. McLeay, of Pokuru.
