INCREASE IN BUYING

(Ey Telcsrnpn.— Press Association.)

NAPIER, Monday

Rates generally fully firm on those ruling at last week’s Auckland sale were the order of the first three catalogues at the first Napier wool sale this morning.

A slight easing was at limes apparent -on shabby seedy .wools, but -this type of offering was very lightly represented. The ' offering ‘totalled 17,000 bales and the general quality of the entry showed an improvement on last yearWhile the rates were -at approximate •parity there were definitely more buying orders oil t'he benches -than had been the case at the Auckland sale, and the Hawke’s Bay growers -proved more ready to meet the market, passings being decidedly less frequent than at the northern centre. Of the first catalogue fully 75 per •cent, were sold. •Bradford was by far the largest operator on general fleece wools, with Japanese competition seen on some of the -finer types, and France providing the. bulk of competition on pieces. Oer-man buyers, whilst not entirely silent, were only entering -the market intermittently, mostly on piece wools.

FLEECE WOOLS VERY FIRM.

BETTER QUALITY ON SALE.

NAPIER, Monday,

Wool brokers -report that the slight firming on 'Auckland prices uas due to the better quality of the wool. _ -Fleece wools were very firm in sellers’ favour, but ordinary--top-mak-ing -sorts showed no change.
