PROGRESS OF UNDERTAKING. PILE-DRIVING PROCEEDING. With twenty-seven men engaged' on the scene of operations good progress is being made with the foundations of the new bridge over the Waikato River at Fairfield. A forward stage lias been reached with the pile-driving only six piles remaining to he 'driven to complete the third pier, which comprises i 26 piles. A start will be made wil hin a few days on The fourth pier, which will stand in the river towards the western bank. This will also involve the driving of 126 piles. While Ihc pile-driving in The river is proceeding oilier workmen are making , preparations for the concrete foundations of The land piers on The eastern bank, and a coffer dam has been installed as Ihe inaugural step towards tire completion of the two piers. Nine iOft. reinforced concrete piles will he driven in first abutment pier within a few days. A large quantity of steel for (lie superstructure of the bridge is on Hie sile, and this is being bent to the required shapes and sizes in readiness for Ihc construction of This phase of the underinking. Timber work for the concrete easing is also going on, while 500 yards ..of shingle from Hmeed's quarry and 100 yards of sand have been landed. About fifty bluegum piles for further pile-driving have arrived ami are being prepared for their place in the foundations-
