ATTEMPT TO SHOOT DETECTIVE. CORNERED ON THEATRE ROOF. FIVE "YEARS’ HARD LABOUR. (By Telegraph.—press Association.) AT JC K-L AN D , Tu esd ay. When cornered on the roof of a Queen Street Iheatre. Colin William Glass attempted to shoot Detective Whitehead with a revolver. To-day Mr Justice lierdman sentenced him to 'five years’ lined labour.
His Honour said that had not the trigger misfired or descended on to an empty chamber prisoner might have been standing trial on a much more serious charge- Nothing could be ■said in his favour except that there was some evidence that lie was eccentric. He must be put whero ho could harm nobody.
