ORINI FARMERS PROTEST.

PROPOSED DAIRY LEGISLATION. RESOLUTIONS PASSED. At a largely-attended meeting of farmers at Orini, under the auspices of the local branch of the Fanners’ Union, over which Mr. F. F. Catley presided, a resolution protesting against the proposed Council of Trade and Production was passed. The meeting was addressed by Mr. H. O. Mellsop, president of the Auckland 'Farmers’ Union.

1 it was apparent from the general tone of the meeLlng that the farmers of the district were strongly opposed to the setting up of a Commission of Agriculture and the personnel of the Dairy Produce Board. It was unanimously decided: “That this meeting protest against the appointment of the Council of Trade and Production; against undue haste In passing the Dairy Legislation; and also expresses great regret that no provision has been made for immediate assistance to the industry.”
