SOCIAL NOTES.
Mrs Gordon Seagar has left Hamilton for Auckland. Mrs W*M. Howe hd Audrey Ilowe, of Hamilton, are holidaying at Kawhia. Miss Betty Ross, of Fencourt, left for Auckland yesterday to take up training In the Auckland Hospital- * * >» * Mrs \V. Oldham, of Hamilton, is on a visit to Auckland. Miss Nancy Madill, of Hamilton, has returned from a visit to the South Island. FAREWELL AT HOROTIU. BRIDE-TO-BE honoured. There was a large gathering at th f - Horotiu Hall on Saturday afternoon -n farewell Miss B. Martin prior to her marriage. The afternoon took the form of a kitchen and linen tea, and was most enjoyable. On behalf of Miss Martin’s former school-mates, Miss L. Holmes presented a beautiful tea service and a satin ribbon, suitably inscribed with all the names of her school friends, as a token of esteem. In asking Miss Martin to accept the numerous gifts from the residents of Horotiu, Rev. Cummings replied in the absence of Mr Hillyer. A beautiful bouquet was presented by a small child to Mrs Little, who has been Miss Martin’s guardian for ■the past few years. Musical honours were called for and responded to with enthusiasm. A musical programme was much enjoyed. It was contributed to by Rev. Cummings, song; pianoforte solo, Miss M. Strawbridge; Mrs W. Martin, song; Mrs A. Washer, and Miss E. Spiers, piano duets; chorus by the young ladles of the district. ' The accompanists were Mrs W. Martin and Miss M. - Strawbridge.
The competitions, arranged by Mrs Jacobs, were much enjoyed. The hostesses were Mesdames R. HoTmes, J. Wyllie and J. BunnyonThe afternoon closed with community singing.
