MACHINIST SUES LABOURER. SEQUEL TO MOTOR ACCIDENT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Monday. . A claim for £3OOO damages was made in the Supreme Court to-day by Marjorie Shakleton, a 22-year-old machinist, against David Robert John Ellis, labourer. Plaintiff was cycling on the Great North Road on February 17 when she was knocked down by a car driven by Ellis. She alleges permanent partial Incapacitation as a result of the injuries. The jury found that the plaintiff was entitled to £1750 general damages in addition to the £207 2s special damages agreed upon. His Honour entered judgment accordingly, with costs according to scale, witnesses’ expenses/ and disbursements to be settled by the registrar.

Counsel was granted 'l4 days in which to apply for a new trial on the ground that the damages awarded were excessive.
