The executive of the North of England Wholesale Grocers’ Association, at Manchester, passed a resolution postponing llie threatened boycott of Australian produce until after- thi Australian elections. (Received Sept. 5, 12.30 p.m.) RUGBY, Sept. 4. ■ With a view to facilitating a settlement of the dispute over the increased Australian cotton duties a number of Lancashire firms lias offered lo consider a contract to buy for a period of years either a fixed quantity of Australian-grown cotton or the surplus crop over local requirements, subject lo quality being satisfactory, and the protests regarding duties on Lancashire products being met. The offer was placed before the Australian Minister of Trade and. Customs (Mr T. W. White), but a full Cabinet meeting at present is out of the question owing to Ministers being engaged in the election campaign.
