LAWN TENNIS.
FRANKTON OLD PUPILS. ANNUAL MEETING HELD. With a good attendance of members and intending members, the annual meeting of the Frankton Old Pupils’ Lawn Tennis Club was held in the Frankton school on Monday evening, Mr R. Wigzell presiding in the absence of the president, Mr Belgrave. The report and statement of accounts, which indicated that the club had experienced a successful year, were adopted. A request was received from the Frankton School Parents’ and Teachers’ Association that the club should amalgamate with the Association. After 'consideration of the request it was decided that the club should remain a separate body, but that two delegates should be appointed to attend meetings of the asociation. Election of Officers. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted: —Patron, Mr W. •Higgins; president, Mr A. S. Cliffe; vice-presidents, Messrs 11. Wigzell, W. McDonagh; secretary (pro tern), Mr C. Belgrave; auditor, Mr V. Alexander; ■committee, Misses A. Wigzell, G. Scott, Messrs L. Amesbury, R. Kilham, K. Chilcott, R. Roberts; delegates to Parents’ Association, Messrs G. Belgrave and Wigzell; delegates to subassociation, Messrs R. Kilham and K. Chilcott; club reporter, Mr R. Kilham. It was decided to observe opening day on September 22. Prospects for the coming season were reported to he very bright. OHAUFO CLUB. 1 TIIE ANNUAL MEETING. At the annual meeting or the Ohaupo •Tennis Club there was a fair attendance. In the absence or the president (Mr A. L. Wiley) Mr Smillie was voted to the chair. It was decided to hold the opening day on Saturday, September 20, a “workingbee” to be held on Saturday, September 8, to overhaul the nets, etc. It was decided to affiliate with the Association', and to enter an A and a B team. The delegates to the annual meeting this year will bo Messrs A. L. Wiley and J. Boyd. . j . The following members were voted to office: President, Mr W. D. Smillte; vicepi esidents, Messrs J. M. Titmarsh and A. Cowling, senr.; lion, secretary, Mrs J. Boyd; treasurer, Mrs P. J. Bell; auditor, Mr L.'D. Kemp; club captain, Mr C. Cowley; committee, Miss z. Turnwald, Messrs Boyd, Bland, Bell, Wiley, Cowley, and E. Mitchell. HINUERA CLUB. THE ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Hlnuera Tennis Club was Held last Tuesday night, Mrs- D. K. Mclsaac presiding over a good attendance of members. The report and balance-sheet were read an'd adopted and the treasurer’s report showed a very satisfactory financial position. Calcler; vice-presidents, Mrs M. Green and Messrs 11. Pond, \V. J. Oates and 11. Settle; committee, Messrs N. Pond (chatrman), W. n. Oates (secretary), R. Germann - (treasurer), C. Hough, L. Jones and R. Settle, Mesdames W. Hollis and R. Barlow and Miss J. Hancock; captain, Mr R. Germann; vice-capiTfin, Mr M. Pond. The winners of the competitions held during the season were as follows: Men's championship singles, E. Green; men's handicap doubles, Messrs F. Germann and L. Jones; ladies’ handicap singles, Miss M. Hawke; ladies’ handicap doubles, Misses J. and M. Barron; combined handicap doubles, E. Green and Aliss E. Swan'. Presentation. At the conclusion of the meeting a very enjoyable dance was held by members and friends. Following the presentation of trophies, a presentation of a handsome clock was made to Mr W. H. Oates, who was recently married, and who has been secretary of the club for ten years.
