THE AUCKLAND MARKETS. BIG LIST OF SALES RECORDED. (By Telegraph—spocial to Times.) AUCKLAND, Tuesday. After a quiet beginning to 'the week business on the Stock Exhange livened up yesterday afternoon, and this morning activity was very pronounced, with a big list of sales recorded. At the morning call the market showed a buoyant tone, with values higher in several cases, but an exception was provided in 4 per cent. Government stock, which sold 2s Gd cheaper at £IOB, while bonds of the same issue changed hands at the same price, disclosing a drop of ss. With this exception the Government issues showed pralically no 'Change. There was a good demand in the mining section. Mahakipawas improved with a sale at Is, after which the market showed lid to Is OJd. Malakis wero also higher with business at 2s id. Auckland Gas at £1 Gs reached the highest point in recent weeks. The Noon Call. Insurance Scrip was very firm at the noon call, when buyers of New Zcalands advanced their offers to £3 4s, but they were still Gd below holders. South British were also in demand at an advance which corresponded with late sales. Bank of New Zealand were active, and closed at between £2 7s 5d and £2 7s Bd. Sellers of Taupiri Coals came in at 1 Gs, attracting buyers at 14s. Farmers’ Trading recorded a penny advance. Mining shares continued lo sell freely. Golden Dawns recovered from the recent casing.
