RESTORATION OF WAGES.
GENERAL ORDER DESIRED. AMENDMENT OF ACT URGED. CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. At the annual meeting to-night of the Christchurch branch of the Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners a motion was carried as follows: “That this union ask 3 the national association to take immediate steps to request the Government to amend the Arbitration Aot to permit application being made to the Arbitration Court for a restoration of the out in wages imposed by the general order of May 29, 1931.” The Hon. T. Bloodworth, M.L.C., said there was a move In Auckland and Wellington for a similar request. He believed that if it were gone on with the request would receive favourable consideration. _____
