ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.
■LASTING AOCIDENT. OTOROHANGA, Tuesday. Whilst Mr George Oliver was enjaged in blasting operations on Mr Edwards’ property, at Rangitoto, he was the victim of a very painful accident. Mr Oliver was engaged In stumping operations, and placed about two handfuls of" powder under a stump, attached a fuse, and ignited it. Owing to a twist in the fuse, when lighted it flew back and the lighted end ignited the charge, and the operator received the full force of the explosion. His left arm was badly injured, bis neck severely burned, and much of his hair Ignited. YOUNG MAN INJURED. WHANGAREI, Monday. A young man, Mr Joseph Walker, met with injuries when the front forks of his cycle collapsed, throwing him lo the road. He sustained concussion and severe facial injuries. WOMAN CYCLIBT THROWN. WAIIIT, Monday. In a collision between a motor iruck and her bicycle Miss M. Simpson, of Waihi Beach, was thrown heavily, suffering bruises and abrasions. Her bicycle was practically wrecked. OHILD SOALDED. AUCKLAND, Tuesday. Through tipping over a pot of boiling water, Mervyn Dorrieott, aged 14 months, the son of Mr R. Dorricott, of Mount Albert, suffered scalds to the back. FALL FROM LOAD OF HAY. TAURANGA, Monday. While feeding out hay on a farm at Kauri Point, a young man, Mr. James Brown, fell from a load of hay on to a fork, which penetrated his chest. THROWN INTO SEA. NAPIER, Monday. Thrown into the sea when a light crane which he was working was dragged from the Glasgow Wharf into the" water, Mr. A. Jane, of Napier, suffered injuries lo the head and one leg.
