NORTH ISLAND AMATEURS. CHAMPIONSHIPS IN HAMILTON. BIG PROGRAMME THIS WEEK. The North Island amateur wrestling championships will be held in 'Hamilton Ibis week, commencing tomorrow’ afternoon. Entries total 53 from all parts of the North Island, and some exciting bouts are assured. The championships will be 'held on Wednesday 'afternoon, Wednesday evening, Thursday afternoon, with the finals on Thursday, while a professional bout will also be held on Thursday evening. •In the professional contest Dr. Fred Meyers has been matched with Walter Browning. Dr. Meyers is considered to be one of the coolest of wrestlers. . He is a most consistent tmatman, rough to a degree, and so far has lost only one match In New Zealand. Walter Browning is making his flrst appearance in Hamilton, and in his meeting, with Meyers It should be a case of “Greek meet Greek." The Nominations. The 16 entrants from Waikato district will wrestle elimination bouts on Wednesday afternoon, the finalists in each class competing in the championships. There will be 32 bouts in the championships, each three rounds of five minutes.
