YOUNG MAN’S SUICIDE.
DISAPPOINTMENT IN LOVE. TYPIST’S TRAGIC DISCOVERY. (By Telegraph.— Press Association.) BLENHEIM, Thursday. A verdict of suicide while of unsound mind was returned by the coroner, Mr E. J. Hill, at the inquest into the death of Hugh Lancelot Wedde, aged 22, who was found dead in the strongroom of Wright, Stephenson's office on Tuesday. The evidence showed that Wedde was on the verge of a nervous breakdown at the end of last year. He was given special leave, but it was noticeable occasionally that he had not quite recovered. Lois Isabel Marple, the firm’s typist, said Wedde paid her attention for some time, but she told him this was unwelcome. On Tuesday he asked her to reconsider the matter, but she declined. He remarked, “ This is the end,” or something like that. Witness was upset and left the office for a few minutes. Returning, she discovered the body in the strongroom. The evidence showed that Wedde shot himself through the left breast with a pea rifle.
