NORTH ISLAND CHAMPIONSHIPB. AUCKLAND, Monday. The final rounds of the North Island and Auckland badminton championships were played on Saturday. G. Martin retained the singles title after* a well-contested match with I. Ellett. Weir and Wilson won the men’s doubles, while Miss D. Ellett secured the ladies’ title, defeating Miss J. Ramsay, last year’s winner, in straight games. The combined doubles went to I. Ellett and Miss K. Waters, and the ladies’ doubles to Misses Ramsay and Wade.

At the conclusion of the tourney the president, Mr S. Harris, referred to the irreparable loss to badminton by the death of Mr W. C. Cargill of Morrlnsville. In the semi-finals of the A. Grade H. Fow (Hamilton), was beaten by G. Martin.
