CATHEDRAL ADDITIONS.
ANOTHER £3OO REQUIRED.
WINDOWS FOR BAPTISTRY. Steady progress Is being made with the additions to St. Peter’s Cathedral, which are expected to be completed by September. At the last meeting of the building committee it was ascertained that the alterations to the Cathedral would cost £3OO more than the money In hand. Of this sum £72 will he required for alterations to the lighting. The present system is described as out of date and has been condemned by the authorities. Steps are being taken to raise this amount and so far £lO has been collected towards It. A scheme for raising the balance will l:e brought before the Greater Chapter shortly. It is slated as essential that £9O
~ he spent on Improvements to the organ. —ATAlready the PI. Peter’s Ladies’ Guild 'lias guaranteed £SO towards the cost. Plans are being made for raising the balance. There will be three lancet windows In the new baptistry.- A stained glass window has been presented for the one behind the new font. The Bishop has secured plans and estimates for that and other windows in the Cathedral. It is possible that the other two windows may be presented. As soon as possible a committee of the Chapter will consider the question of how host to arrange for the commemoration of fallen soldiers in the Memorial Chapel.
