TWISTED TEACHING.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —For several years past _ the Welfare League has called attention to the steady growth of subversive and anti-patriotio influences in our schools and universities. The authorities know what is going on, but appear to be indifferent to the dangers; otherwise they would surely take some steps to preserve our schools and university as seats of learning instead of allowing them to be used for the propagation of Ideas and doctrines which are utterly repugnant to the great majority of those who send their sons and daughters to them. It is now beyond question that this campaign, to poison the minds of the rising generation against all that our Western ■civilisation Is based upon, has been deliberately planned—planned by organisations working closely with the Third International in Moscow. Instructions are given how British and Dominion teaohers in schools and universities can give “a little twist" in an anti-British direction to every lesson—scripture, history, geography, English and even arithmetic are to bo used for this purpose. Spaoe will not allow instances, but we have specimen questions to illustrate how this “mtle twist" to their teaching may be given. It is the duty of our educational authorities to see that our children and youth are protected against this poisonous campaign and all parents should help to make the authorities realise their responsibilities, and not remain inactive, through apathy or want of pluck. Taxpayers’ money is being spent to pay teachers who undermine the Empire and to spread doctrines abhorrent to the majority. This must stop.—We are, etc., THE N.Z. WELFARE LEAGUE. Wellington, June 28, 1933.
