EMPIRE DAY.
OBSERVANCE ON WEDNESDAY. ADDRESSES IN LOCAL SCHOOLS. Empire Day will be observed on Wednesday, and to mark the occasion the Education Department has granted the Victoria League permission to address all schools on the morning of that day on Ihe meaning of the Empire and what it stands for. The Mayor of Hamilton, Mr J. R. Fow, has received a letter from the Victoria League of Auckland, asking that arrangements should he made to address the local schools. However, Ihe Hamilton branch of the Victoria League disbanded al Ihe elose of Ihe Great War, and Mr Fow is enlisting the aid of the rlergy, who visit the schools, to meet the League’s request. Mr Fow has asked that Ihe ministers should devote their talk lo the. children on Wednesday morning lo Ihe I heme ~f the Empire and its signiilcanec.
