LOCAL OBSERVATIONS. Miss Budd, of Balfour M. Irvine and Webster, Ltd., supplies the following observations of the weather: — Barometer. Wednesday ... 29.70 Thursday ...... 29.75 Thermometer. Max. Min. Tuesday v, 84.0 71.0 Wednesday 81.0 55.0 The barometer has very little movement and reads 29.75. Indications are for generally fair weather today with lower temperature. Winds chiefly from a northerly direction and occasional showers. 0.C2 points of rain fell during the past 24 hours. Mean temperature, 6S degrees. SOUTH AUCKLAND AREA. SPECIAL FORECAST. (By Govt. Meteorologist.) The special forecast by the Government meteorologist covering the WaikatoThames Valley area Is as follows :—* General inference: The cyclone .mentioned yesterday has moved away southward but has been followed by a deep westerly depression which is now' approaching the South Island. .'Forecast: North-westerly winds backing before morning to west or south-west; moderate mainly, but, squally at times. Weather changeable with scattered showers. Seas moderate. THE RAINFALL. (Recorded at Rualcura Farm.) Rainfall for 24 hours ended 9.30 this morning, ,G9in. Rainfall for previous 24 hours .Oin. Total for February, 5.1 Sin. Rainfall for year to date, 7.81 in. The Weather Bureau wires: The indications for 2 4 hours from 9 a.m. this day are for northerly winds, moderate to strong, and backing by west to south. Scattered showers, but mainly fair to cloudy weather. Barometer unsteady, but has a rising tendency.
