WOMEN’S INSTITUTE.
MORRINSVILLE BRANCH. Mi's Starnes presided over an attendance of about 50 members at the February meeting of the Morrinsville Women’s Institute. Tile resignation of Miss Deery, assistant secretary, was accepted with regret. Miss T. Hewitt was appointed to fill the vacancy. A donation of 10s was made towards the fund of the Waikato Federation. Mrs Matheson, a visitor from Taupiri, spoke briefly upon show work. It was decided to enter for the Waikato Winter Show. Mesdames It. J. Barford, Cooper, junr., Elliott, French, F. Henderson and Mears were elected members. A smocking demonstration was given by Mrs Welch. Mrs Wood entertained the members with an elocutionary Item. Afternoon tea was served by Mesdames P. J. Cooper, Echlin, Pole and Were.
THE HUNTLY BRANCH. There was a good attendance at the monthly meeting of the Huntly Women’s Institute. Mrs T. Chisholm presided. Mrs 11. Broadbent gave a very instructive demonstration on cuttingcut. and also hints on measuring. The competition for the best coathanger was won by Mrs 0. Chisholm, and a novel competition was won by Miss E. Fairhurst. The roll-call, “The day I like best and why,” was well responded to. The hostesses were Mesdames T. Chisholm and J. Harlock.
