CROQUET.
THE HAMILTON CLUB. ANNUAL TOURNAMENT STARTED. The Hamilton Croquet Club opened its annual tournament yesterday, under very favourable conditions. The weather was threatening at times tout not sufficiently so to interrupt the play. The president, Air H. Howden, spoke a few words to the competitors and gave a special welcome to the visitors. The lawns, under the care of Mr Ryall, were in perfect 1 condition and some keenly contested games were witnessed. Following were the results : Handloap Doubles. Section A.—Mesdames Comer and Peart (1 *2 4) defeated Mesdames Carbon and Shepherd (114), 26—14; Mrs Bartlett and Mr Melrose (104) defeated Mesdames Bern and Lorrimer (19), 26 —18; Mesdames Comer and Peart (124) defeated Mesdames Bern and Lorrimer (19), 26—17; Mesdames Andrew and Snowden (10) defeated Mesdames Dillicar and Totman (0), 26 —24; Mesdames Bern and Lorrimer (19) defeated Dillicar and Totman (6), 26 —14; Airs Bartlett and Air Alelrose (101) defeated Mesdames Carbon and Shepherd (Hi), 26—19. Section B. —Mesdames Savage and Pairdie (164) defeated Mesdames Lawrie and Wilkes (71), 26—19; Mesdames Wigzeli and Middleton (8) defeated Mesdames Gittos and Harvey (181), 26 —10; Mesdames .Thomsen and Scrimshaw (10) defeated Airs York and Aliss A. Jones (81), 26—22; Alesdames Wigzeli and Aliddleton (8) defeated Alesdames Lawrie and Wilkes (71), 2 6—19; ATrs York and Aliss A. Jones (81) defeated Alesdames Savage and Purdie (161), 20—14.
