SMALL FARMS BILL,
OPPOSITION EXPECTED. BY LEGISLATIVE COUNCILLORS. WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The Small Farms BUI was referred last week to the Statutes Revision Committee of the Legislative Council, and It was anticipated that it would be reported back to the Council to-day. However, there was no appearance of the report to-day, a fact which strengthens the belief that its clauses, particularly that relating to the compulsory acquisition of land which is not being adequately used, are being examined with great care. 11 is likely that some strong comments will come from the lawyer members of the Council.
It is too early to predict the strength of the anticipated opposition. It seems likely, nevertheless, that recourse will have be had to the appointment of managers from both Chambers as a preliminary to dealing with the alterations Ihe Council is expected to suggest.
