ACTRESS BUYS AN ISLAND
Evelyn Gardiner, who takes the principal contralto roles with the Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Gompany, is an eager pupil of Ihc wonders of Australia. Miss Gardiner owns a bit of Ihe Commonwealth, 100, for she simply could not resist an island off Ihe Harrier Heel', ami, when she returns to England, will have a dellmlc link with Ihe "land of sunshine.” She has studied Ihe 'country from every angle—lhe air, the sea (which includes a close-up from Ihe surf), horseback, ami through Ihe sights of a gun—and, of course, from the edge of her own coral island. She is a very keen sport, ami is now taking up dying. Imping lo gain her H lieense before leaving Australia.
