STOCK SALE.

AT FRANKTON YARDS. BEEF QUOTATIONS FIRM. AUCTIONEERS’ REPORTS. There was a large yarding of beef at the weekly stock sale at the Frankton yards yesterday. Ox beef created a good demand and quotations were well up to last week’s rates. Cow and heifer beef was also firm at late values. Sheep were penned In average numbers and owing to the drop In export quotations values were a little easier for all classes. There was not as large an entry of pigs as usual and although baconers maintained late rates porkers were a shade easier. The following table _ shows the comparison between this and last ■week’s rates: —

The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Ltd., report At the weekly stock sale in the Frankton Yards we had a lighter yarding of f&t wethers and an average yarding of fat ewes and lambs. Fat ewes ivvere slightly easier, but C'fher classes maintained late quotations. A smaller yarding of fat cattle sold on a par with last sale. There was an extra hh&vy yarding of store oattle, which attracted a large attendance of buyer*. The entry included several pens of well-bred Shorthorn cattle, for which there was good competition, gnd prloes throughout the sale were equal to late ruling rates. A few of the better averages are as follows: —66 three-year-old Hereford heifers averaged £2 14s, 46 2$ to 3-year-old Shorthorn steers, £3 10s, 27 Jersey steers £3 Bs, 26 two-year-old steers £2 6s. A good yarding of pigs again came forward, baconers meeting with steady competition and selling at values equal to late quotations. Porkers also remained fairly steady at late values. A large yarding of stores and weaners realised last week’s rates. Baconers sold at about equal to 4}d per lb., porkers at equal to 4Jd to 5d per lb. Dalgety and Co. Messrs Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report having held their usual weekly 6tock sale at Frankton saleyards yesterday as under: — Fat sheep.—An average yarding. Fat ewes were again lower but ether classes maintained late rates. Extra oholce prime wethers sold at up to 14s; ordinary fat wethers, 12s (to 13s; small 2-tooths, 9s sd; extra prime fat ewes, 5s 6d to 8s 3d; fat lambs, 8s to 12s Gd. Fat Cattle. —An average yarding. Prices were on a par with last week’s rates. Extra prime ox beef sold at 18s 6d per 1001 b.; light steers made £5; cows and heifers sold at £2 12s to £3 9s; others, £1 15s tc. £2 17s 6d; runners (heavy) to £2; others, 12s to 3is. Store Cattle.—There was a very heavy yarding of store cattle, including some good lines of good quality steers and heifers from West Coast vendors. Best baooners sold from £2 8s to £2 14s; medium baconers, £2 3s to £2 9s; prime baconers and heavy porkers, 35s to 425; medium porkers, 29s to 345; light porkers, £1 to £1 7s; choppers, £1 10s to £2 ss; best stores, 18s to 235; slips, 12s 6d to 17s; best weaners, 13s Gd; others, 9s 6d to 12s 6d.

Loan and Mercantile. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Hamilton, report on their weekly Frankton stock sale held yesterday as follows: Cattle.—Ox beef, which was in medium supply, realised prices a shade in advance of last week’s quotations. Prime cows sold freely and an increasing tendency was noticeable, while medium to inferior quality made prices right up to late rates. Store cattle and boner cows changed hands with no alteration being registered. Prime heavy ox beef mado from £6 12s 6d to £7 ss; medium quality do., £5 10s to £6 10s; prime lighter quality, £5 5s to £5 15s; lighter do., £4 12s 6d to £5 2s 6d; light and unfinished, £3 17s 6d to £4 10s; prime heavy cow and heifer beef, £3 14s to £4 2s 6d; good fat cows, £3 7s 6d 'to £3 12s 6d; medium sorts, £2 10s to £3 ss; lighter do., £i 18s to £2 7s 6d; killable, £1 12s to £1 17s 6d; good stores, £1 4s to £1 11s; others 14s to £1 2s.

Sheep.—The offering of ewes was again heavier than of wethers, while together the yarding about equalled last week’s. Bidding was slack at the commencement but increased towards the end of the sale, when buyers were paying higher than at last Tuesday’s sale. Lambs declined slightly in value, which was partly due to a heavier entry. Prime fat wethers made 13s 7d to 14s Id; medium do., 12s to 13s 3d; lighter do., 10s 3d to 11s 9d; prime ewes, 7s to 7s 9d; medium do., 5s 6d to 6s 9d; inferior, 4s 6d to 5s 3d; best two-tooth sheep, 12s 6d to 14s 6d; medium, 10s 9d to. 12s; others, 9s to 10s 6d; prime lambs, 12s 3d to 14s; medium, 10s 6d to 11s 9d; lighter, 9s 6d to 10s 6d; inferior, 8s to 9s 3d.

Pigs.—There was a good yarding of both fat and store pigs. Prices for baconers and porkers were about equal to last week’s quotations, while stores and weaners were firm at late rates. Heavy baconers made £2 10s to £2 13s; medium do., £2 5s to £2 9s; light do., £1 18s to £2 4s; heavy porkers, £1 12s to £1 17s; meduim do., £1 8s to £1 11s; light do., £1 3s to £1 6s; large stores, £i to £1 3s; medium do., 15s to 19s; slips, 12s to 15s; good weaners, 10s to 12s 6d; small do., 6s to 9s 6d.

G. W. Verooe and Co. Messrs G. W. Vercoe and Co. Ltd , report having held their weekly stock sale at Frankton yesterday, when a full yarding of fat sheep came forward. Competition through cut was only fair, and prices were easier. Sheep.—Heavy fat wethers sold for 13s to 13s 10; lighter, 12s 6d to 12s 9d; light, 11s to 12s; heavy fat ewes, 7s to 8s; lighter, 5s 8d to 6s 6d. Heavy fat lambs, 11s to 12s 6d; Light, 9s 6d to 10s 6d. Cattle. —A heavy yarding of ox and a medium yarding of cow beef met with a firm demand and prices firmed. On account of Mr A. McNicol, of Wairakau, one truck of prime Poled Angus bullocks averaged £7 2s, the majority of these being purchased 'by Mr W. R. Shattock, of Hamilton. On account of Mr J. Scott, a draft of heavy fat bullocks averaged £6 15s 6iT. On account of Mr J. Hannon, of Hautapu, a draft comprising light and heavy bullocks averaged £5 ISs. Heavy fat bullocks sold from £7 to £7 12s 6d. Lighter, £6 to £6 15s. Light, £5 to £5 15s. Unflinished, £4 to £4 10s. Heavy fat cows, £3 15s to £4 10s; lighter, £3 to £3 12s 6d; light, 30s to >£2 ss. Heavy fat heifers, £3 10s to £4 10s; lighter, £2 to £2 ss; light, 25s to 355. A full yarding of store cattle changed hands at latest quotations. Forward-conditioned steers sold from £3 16s to £4 19s. Yearling steers from 22s to 30s. Store cows, 24s to 325. Boners, 15s to 225. Potter bulls (heavy) £3 7s 6d to £4. Others, £2 10s to £3 ss.

Pigs.—An average yarding of fat pigs and a heavy yarding of store pigs .came forward. (Fat pigs sold readily at rates fully equal to those of last week, while store pigs, with the exception of large forward-conditioned stores, eased in value. Heavy baconers, £2 10s to £2 13s; medium, £2 6s to £2 9s; light, 36s to £2 ss. Heavy porkers, 28s to 355; 'medium, 26s to 275; light, 22s to 255. Heavy choppers, £2 to £2 10s; lighter, 25s to 355. Good stores, 17s to 21s; slips, 12s to 16s. Best weaners, 10s to 11s 6d. Others, 7s 6d to 9s. Twelve-months old pedigree large white boars, from 2igns to 2Jgns. Pedigree middle white boars, to ljgns.
