WAIKATO SUB-CENTRE. TIIE CHAMPIONSHIP PROGRAMME. Preliminary arrangements for tho staging of a sports meeting at Steele Park on Saturday, March IS, when the Waikato Athletic championships will lie decided, were made at a meeting of tiie executive of the Waikato subcentre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic and Cycling* Association. Mr L. Jones presided. It. was decided (o make the presentation of a challenge shield lo the club securing tho greatest number of points in championship events on the programme, which will comprise senior running, cycling and jumping contests over alt distances, iogelhcr with several juniors’ and ladies’ events and handicap races. Some discussion ensued as to what slops should he taken by tin* executive regarding the aclion of Ihe Waikalo Cycling Club in ignoring the ruling of Ihe suh-ccnlre and staging an unatilhorisrd event at their sports gathering al Ngaruawahia on Boxing Day.— It was decided Ilia! a ,-pecial meeting iiould he called lo consider Ihe mallei'.
