School Affairs. The monthly meeting of the school committee, held in the school was attended by Messrs R. W. Burns (■chairinan), R. W. Petch, J. C. Smith, C. IT. Cresswell (secretary), and Mr A. L. Jones (head teacher). The latter reported that the total >, number of pupils stands at 96, while the average attendance is 85. ■Miss M. Hill (assistant mistress); has been granted leave of absence owing to illness. A letter was received from the .Matamata dental clinic authorities advising that the annual .subscription must be received during February and that those failing to remit these dues will not receive attention at the clinic. The secretary reported that Jocal subscriptions are coming to hand verv satisfactorily.
The committee decided to proceed with the organisation of a garden parly for the purpose of raising funds .for school requisites and library. Personal. Mr J. C. Smith has returned from a holiday spent in southern districts. •Mrs 0. L. Lasenby and family are holiday-making at Whitianga, Mercury Bay, Mrs and Mrs G. T. Newsom© are spending a holiday in Auckland. Miss Evelyn Smith has returned from Palmerston North and Feilding. Mr and Mrs E. Toogood, of Dargaville, are the guests of Mr ami Mrs W. R. Wilson.
