IMPROVING STEELE PARK.

REMOVAL OF FENCE. i SUGGESTED TO DOMAIN BOARD. A suggestion that the fence 'surrounding Steele Park should be taken down and the edges laid down in lawn and flower beds was made to the Hamilton Domain Board by the Hamilton East Ratepayers’ Association, which considered that this would greatly improve the appearance of the park. The board considered this at its meeting last night. Mr W. Fraser was In sympathy with the suggestion, but be reminded members that the board derived a oerlain j amount of revenue from the various j sports bodies which used the park, ! and the removal of the fence would ! make tlio collection of admission fees j dillleult. There was also the problem of straying stock. It was decided to defer consideration until the next meeting to enable an investigation into the position to bo made.
