At Thiepval in the presence of ith® President (M. Lebrun), the Prime Minister (M. He said: “ These myriad names carved in stone and printed on almost endless pages must be no mere book of the dead. They must be the opening chapter of a new book of life, and, the foundation and guide to a better civilisation from which war Is bamashed, and In which national bitterness, selfishness and greed shall flee abashed. The first chapter will tell of the growth of a neighbourly spirit among the nations. “These names testify against the past and call us to a better civilisation wherein it will, at last, be realised that the only -sure happiness of each nation is the peace and prosperity of the whole world."-R-ecalling the story of French and. British commanders leading the attack at Montauhan with linked arms, the Prince said: “Let us advance that tradition towards the conquest of the world’s peace and international amity."
