Auokland Port Returns.— ln a statement of revenue presented to the Auckland Harbour Board yesterday it was stated that the receipts far the It) months ended July 31 totalled £264,099, while those for the previous year amounted to £301,681. Decreases were recorded under all headings.
Refreshments at Meetings.—Reference was made by Mr A. Grayson, president of 1 lie Auckland Automobile Association, at a special meeting convened in Hamilton last evening to discuss certain complaints lodged against tho parent body by the Hamilton Hisli-icL Agency, to a report, apprearing in the press entitled "Beer, Laser, or Col Tee.,” Mr Grayson said that at one time lie had made the request that there be in beer al Hie annual meeting in llamillon. At Hie nex. meeting lie atlended there was no beer —il was lager. The reason made was that it had been a present from a friend. .Motoring and liquor did not mix. Hie speaker said. The danger of any motorist, leaving such a meeting under the inlliicnce of liquor could not he overlooked.' Mr H.
