LAND WANTED.
GARDENS FOR UNEMPLOYED. GROWING OF VEGETABLES. The monthly meeting of the Hamlb ton Domain 3oard was held last night. Dr. F. D. Pinfold presiding in the absence of the chairman, Mr W. H. Paul. There were also present Messrs 11. H. Howden, F. A. Swarbrick* W. Fraser, R. C. Fowler, R. Parr, antj G. Boyes (secretary). The Department of Labour asked for information regarding vacant land In the borough available for vegetable growing by the unemployed, as this scheme was to he inaugurated in the spring. The chairman said that where definite applications l'or land were forthcoming, the council would do its best to assist the applicants. He moved that Messrs Paul and Boyes should be given authority to deal with any applications coming before the Domain Board. lie mentioned that tho Government laid down that where a man received land under these conditions, and was provided with seeds and manure by the Unemployment Committee, or any similar body, lio was not allowed to sell his vegetables, or dispose of them in competition with other growers, but he could donate them to the Welfare League or give them away. The chairman's motion was approved.
