DISTRICT SCHOOLS’ TOURNEY. There was a good attendance at the Te Awamutu District High School courts l'or the annual basketball tournament. Results:—• Seniors. —-Seven teams competed in the senior division for the Rosebowl. in the first round Ohaupo A defeated Pirongia, 3 to 2; Te Awamutu A defeated Kihikihl, 6 to 4; Te Awamutu B defeated Convent, 19 to 10; and Ohaupo B had the bye. In the second round To Awamutu A defeated. Ohaupo A by 7 to 4, and Te Awamutu B defeated Ohaupo B, TO to 2. in the final Te. Awamutu A defeated Te Awamutu B by 11 to-5. Juniors. —In the junior division, for the Orakau Shield, there were also seven teams engaged. -In the first round Parawcra defeated Mangupiko by 9 to 1, Te Kawa defeated Te Ralni by 1.1 to 2, .Paterangi defeated Hairini by J 7 lo 2, and Korukomii had The live, lif Hie second round Te Kawa defeated Parawera by 6 lo 2. and l’atorangl defeated Korakonui by 14. to 3. The final resulted in a win for Paterangi by 7 to A return match, Te Awamutu District High School v. Hamilton Convent Old Girls was also played. Iligh
School A defeated Convent A by ten goals to four, and 'Convent O.G. B defeated Te Awamutu High School B by 7 goals to 3. The Mayoress (Mrs G. G. Downes) presented the Rosebowl and Orakau Shield to Te Awamutu and Paterangi respectively. Tomatoes and grapes are grown in England in glasshouses covering 3000 acres. Half of these are in the Lea A’allcy, a large proportion of the other -half being situated round Worthing, on the South Coast. Railway passengers in the Gare St. Lazare, Paris’ famous railway station, can buy clothes, books, and drinks, receive dental treatment, telephone overseas, have a shave or a hair-wave, or attend a cinema while waiting for -their trains. Notices of trains about to depart are shown on the screen between the films. Don’t talk about that idea of yours to your neighbours.
