SERIOUS ALLEGATIONS

YOUNG COUPLE IN TROUBLE CHARGES OF THEFT. __ I. REMANDED IN CUSTODY. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Saturday. Serious allegations were made at the Police Court against a young couple, who were arrested yesterday. Madeline Anderson (18), was charged with stealing a fur coat and frocks, and Francis William Trembath (19) with stealing a bicycle. Both alleged offences occurred at Palmerston North.

Detective Sergeant Kelly said the pair had been living together, and when their house was searched the police found two suitcases filled with what the police alleged were proceeds of burglaries. Trembath was found in possession of skeleton keys, a glass cutter and pliers which were housebreaking implements. The magistrate remanded both in custody.
